Autograph letter signed, dated : Manchester, 28 September 1848, to an unidentified recipient, 1848 Sept. 28.

Saying he is glad he returned to Manchester a bit early, that Mainzer wrote to him in Cologne to return, that within 14 days he already has four violin pupils, discussing his hourly and monthly income from pupils and classes, adding that Hallé, who has been in Manchester for six weeks, has taken the best hours, but that Manchester has 380,000 inhabitants and that Hallé is his only rival, etc. The letter is written on the last page of a printed advertisement: on p. 1, "Monsieur Henri Panofka's Pianoforte Classes;" on p. 2-3, "Catalogue of ... Panofka's Compositions ... "
